Catalina Island Company Announces Major Upgrades at Two Harbors

In a recent announcement, the officials from Catalina Island Company stated that they are planning to introduce major upgrades to Two Harbors, which is located on the western shore of the Island, by summer 2017. Reports say that Catalina Island Co., which owns and operates a number of the resort features of the Catalina Island, is planning to add amenities to the quiet side of the island. It is rumored that the proposed additions would include a meeting space, rental equipment on the beach, and a dining area.

Catalina Island Co. carefully evaluated the pictures from the early-1900 history of the Two Harbors for their South Pacific-style revamp. Reports claim that six new palapas (thatched roof shelters, open-sided) will be named after films of that time. In addition to that, the wait staffs will also wear uniforms that are similar to the 1900 period’s garments.

Catalina Island Company officials also stated that they are planning to add an aerial park with zip lines and tower drops in the city of Avalon soon. They also promised that the high-speed Cyclone boat would provide thrill rides and fishing tours around the island to tourists and residents. Officials further added that their plan to house more employees is expected to be concluded by the year 2019.

The president and chief executive of Catalina Island Co., Randall Herrel said, “We’re keeping it quaint and a special place, a seaside village. We’re keeping with its history and authenticity. But we’re enhancing the experiences of our guests and attracting everyone from millennials to retirees and having lots of things for them to do. We want to maintain the feel of today for the future”.

The company, that recently changed their name from Santa Catalina Island Resort Services to Catalina Island Company, has been trying to enhance the amenities of the island at Avalon for the past couple of years. The company recently added Descanso Beach Club and they currently manage Mt. Ada, which is a former Wrigley family home that was transformed into an elegant six-bedroom boutique hotel.

Herrel also gave an insight about the proposed “multimillion-dollar” upgrades on Catalina Island, in which he confirmed that they would add a high-speed Cyclone ride at Avalon by the end of this month. He also added that the addition of the Descanso Drop Tower would also be completed soon.
