Visiting Catalina Island During Fall and Winter Time

Residents of Catalina Island know that fall and winter are the best times in the island. The area will not be crowded with tourists, the sky will be clear, and the climate will be mild.

There will be less traffic on the streets, but great deals on everything, including stays and dining. Above all, the soothing sound of gentle waves hitting against the rocky beach can be experienced in the most serene setting in fall and winter.

Off-Season Paradise

You can just jump on the Catalina Express from any of the three ports: downtown Long Beach, Dana Point, or San Pedro, and reach the island. Catalina Express has been serving for over 30 years now, and has ferried more than 25 million tourists to and from the island. In fact, it is the most preferred mode of transport for around 95 percent of people visiting Catalina Island.

When you reach the island, you can go to Avalon to discover that the town has slashed the prices in fall and winter, but not the offerings. The island has many properties to offer the tourists – from spas and restaurants to museums and tours, and these places never get dull in any climate.

Check In at the Hotel Metropole

Hotel Metropole is located at the heart of Avalon and is just a few steps away from the beach. The hotel is best for romantic, family, or single getaways. The hotel is well reputed for luxury, comfort, charm, and the efficient service offered to its guests.

Hotel Metropole offers oceanfront VIP suites that have fireplaces, balconies overlooking the beach, and Jacuzzi bath. The hotel was remodeled recently to include free Wi-Fi, 40-inch flat televisions, robes, and slippers in all the rooms. Hotel Metropole also offers special packages that include boat fare, different activities like hiking, kayaking, go pro adventures, and many more.

East End Adventure

Tourists visiting Catalina Island can choose from more than twenty tours on the island, but the East End Adventure is the most preferred one in fall and winter seasons. In this package, tourists are taken for sightseeing in an open-air Hummer off-road vehicle over the scenic East End trail.

The tour will take you five miles up the rugged interior of the island, and offer spectacular views of the coastline and deep canyons. The tour runs for around two hours and takes you to a height of 1500 feet above sea level, offering a chance to see the native Catalina Island bison and fox up close.
